The increased usage of pharmaceuticals coupled with the desire for greywater reuse to reduce freshwater demand potable water requires a user-friendly engineered solution. Activated carbon is proven technology that typically used organic pollutant removal at treatment plants. Lignite, coconut, and blend activated powders were develop rapid-dissolving pellets an inorganic binder. Ibuprofen was model compound chosen pharmaceutical adsorption in deionized synthetic hydrolyzed fresh urine rapid contact times (0.5 30 min) using various pellet dosages 10 g/L). A cost analysis performed determine feasibility With increase time, coconut outperformed both lignite set dosage. most cost-effective capacity 0.089 g ibuprofen/g pellet. Additional optimization parameters include dissolvability, dosage relation different pharmaceuticals, impact on household sewage system, each these are necessary application feasibility.
